to many people close to me are dying
but i think none of the deaths have affected me as much as this one
john parker has recently died
john was a very good friend of mine in highschool
i was thinking the other day of some of the things we had done together…
remembering a party he threw for a forign exchange student that was living with him….
he taught me how to say fuck in german
that day
he tought me how to make my first sword
helped me when i made the warhammer
john and i went camping more times than i can count
we would sit with all our friends on the banks of george’s lake… drinking home made honey beer and cheap wiskey
starting fires with flint rock
i remember his camo shorts… he ripped a hole in them whenever he had sex
they had one or two holes in them until he started dating misty….
then….
well lets just say there wasnt much left of those shorts
misty and johngot married and had a beautiful baby girl
they named her stephanie… after a friend of ours that took her own life… named stephanie dodd
john joined the marines after high school to provide for his family…
shortly after john and misty got a divorcejohns life was ended unexpectadly while camping with his friend Amber Marie Peck.
Amber and John were murdered around noon by Leo Boatman
leo said he just wanted to kill someone
so he went into the woods… and found… my good friend john
once he shot john and amber… he tried to sink the bodies in the swmp… but they wouldnt sink… so he left them there
i dont have any witty or insightful words for this…
im at a loss…
i still cant figure out why this happend
why a life would be ended like this
John was a good man
and an even better friend
and with tears streaming down my face… all i can say is
you will be remembered
and you will live on in my thoughts… and in my heart

some friends and i were llaking about making a stone for john
i have a large river rock stone here… i will carve a message for john in it
we were going to place it at his gravesite
but his mother told me he wished to be cremated and have his ashes placed in virginia
i was thinking of placing the stone next to the tree…. or hiding it beside our campsite next to georges lake
everyone let me know what you want me to do with it she also sent me more pics

let me introduce you to the world famous cotton club
gangster Owney Madden founded the cotton club in 1923 during prohabition as a front to sell his “Maddens #1″ beer
all entertainers at the cotton club where black. the owners and all guests were white until 1978 when John Beatty bought it.
some of the entertainers who got their start at the club were
Duke Ellington
Cab Calloway
Ethel Waters
among othersthe cotton club was a staple for what was known from the 20’s to the 50’s as “nigger jazz”
the cotton club is a legend…. a mark in history.
the vast majority of jazz ledgends of that time got their start at the cotton club
now all that has changed
MR. Beatty has thought it proper to change the rules… since 1978 black people have been allowed in the club as guests, however the entertainers have always been black jazz and blues musicians
now the vast majority of entertainers are white guys… trying desperatly to sing “nigger jazz”
the other day i picked up a copy of “the cotton club singers”
its the new album for the cotton club house band
composed of young white people singing songs like
“lovers live alittle longer”
“mamma mia”
it almost made me cry to see how Beatty has single handedly destroyed the legend of this great establishment
