thank god
sony has announced that the price for a ps3 will be dropped prior to its release in japan to around 44,800 yen ($410)
Merrill Lynch is predicting a price of $399 in the U.S.
this is creating a major major shift in  next gen console sales forcasts
the ps3 is still thought to be the third popular of the three
however news of the price decline from around $600 has turned heads

will i buy one if it is priced at $400?

no.

because of the early uproar the $600 price tag caused, game companies parted ways with sony and banded with the xbox and wii
which means all the games we have come to love on the ps2 will ship for the wii or xbox as well
sony is also slate to lose $1.18 billion with the lower price tag of the ps3

compared with the $458 million loss with the ps2 whose launch price was $299

sony is going to have to round off that $1.8 billion somehow…

i figure they will do it with games… sell enough people on the system, and you WILL sell games, no matter what price they are

so i no longer feel that sony is going the way of the dreamcast, i now feel its going the way of the jaguar.
